Story- 7/10
As I said before, Resident Evil 0 takes place 24 hours before Resident Evil 1. The story, basically, is S.T.A.R.S,
Special Tactics And Rescue Service, is
sent to Raccoon City to investigate a series of murders. While flying to Raccoon city, the helicopter's engine fails so they
have to make an emergency landing in Raccoon forest. They get out to look around and see two officers that were supposed to
be excorting Billy Coen to his execution murdered. Rebecca Chambers, the newest member of S.T.A.R.S investigates an abandoned
train for Billy only to find all of the passengers dead, well sort of. Rebecca eventually finds Billy and they both try to
find out what happened on the train. I wont say anymore so I don't ruin the entire story for you. I'll just say that the ending
isn't that great and the story only makes the already extremely long story more confusing.
Graphics- 10/10
This is the best part of the game, the graphics are amazing! They have to be the best I've ever seen in a game. The attention
to detail is great too. Cups rattle in a dirty sink as the train bumps along the tracks. Billy's handcuffs sway as he moves
his hand. And the FMV's (Full Motion Video) are incredible. They are much
better than the ones in Final Fantasy X. (HA! It's funny saying that...)
Controls- 6/10
This is one of the down points of the game. The controls are sort of weird, I know what they were trying to do, but it
just came out wrong. Although you get used to them after a while they are still weird. Basically, when you press up on the
joystick, you will always walk straight foward. In order to walk left, you have to press left on the joystick and then press
foward. Wow, I just officially confused myself... Anyway, if you play this game don't expect the control to be great because
it takes a lot of getting used to. Also, I don't know if this is in the right section but who cares, the game has no
camera control at all. If you hear a zombie getting up and moaning, he most likely won't be in your range of view, so you
have to move into the next frame in order to even see him, and for all you know, he could be right there!
Sound- 8/10
Nothing really special about the sounds, the monsters make appropriate sounds and the music is always spooky. The voice
acting is also top-notch.
Replay Value- 8/10
You do unlock some secrets after you beat the game, like a leech hunter mini game where you have to find 100 leeches
to unlock certain things in story mode. Also, you unlock some new costumes when you beat the game on normal mode. But, there
is nothing really new in the actual story mode, it may feel a little boring playing it again, but it really isn't fun playing
any game over again, (except GTA).
Overall- 8/10
This is a great game for fans of the series or anyone else who just wants a scare. There is definantly great things about
this game, but a few flaws hold it back. Go give it a try.
